Our students were not killed by cultists – AAU Management
The management of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, has denied reports that the killing of two of its students and three other persons were cult-related.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Edward Aihevba, disclosed this to The PUNCH while reacting to the incident on Thursday.
No fewer than five persons were shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cultists on Tuesday evening, after a fight ensued between two persons at a bar located around Judges’ Quarters, in the Esan West Local Government Area of the state.
One of them was said to have claimed that his shirt was torn during the brawl and left the scene angrily only to return later with a group of armed men who opened fire, killing five persons.
Among the deceased persons were a final-year medical student of the school, identified as Dr. Einstein Chinedum; the son of a former council chairman, Ose Abulu; a corps member, identified as one Ugwi Martha; and one Jerry Omobude.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, had told our correspondent on Wednesday that the incident was a clash between rival cult groups.
Kokumo had also said that no fewer than four suspects have been arrested while arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
But Aihevba explained, “The erroneous reports had it that some graduating students of the Ambrose Alli University, some said 12, 10 or six, were shot by cultists at a graduation party on campus. This was an incident that really happened in Ekpoma, among a group of friends in a bar.
“It happened far away from the campus. Because it was not on the campus, the police are the ones to investigate. We were not at the spot, so we rely on what the police saw and what their investigation confirmed.”
See The Main Reason Why Ronaldo Was Sent Off From Pitch Against Valencia
Cristiano Ronaldo was shown a straight red card in Juventus’ Champions League clash with Valencia on Wednesday.
It was the Portugal international’s first European match for the Italian giants following his £105million summer move from Real Madrid.
All eyes were on Ronaldo to see how he’d perform on the biggest stage in football, given the fact he’s won the competition five times previously.
But Ronaldo’s night will be remembered for all the wrong reasons after he was sent off in just the 29th minute for a coming together with Jeison Murillo.
It wasn’t clear what had happened at first as the incident occurred off the ball.
There was a slight coming together between the two players, but Ronaldo didn’t appear to lash out at his rival with his hand or head.
He did however appear to pull the hair of Murillo, which was spotted by the linesman.
The official gestured to the referee to end Ronaldo’s night early, and the Portugal international was forced to leave the pitch in tears.
The main reason Ronaldo was sent off in the Champions league match against Valencia may be that he did appear to pull the hair of Murillo.
‘Taking too much sugar or sugary drinks does not cause diabetes’ – Nigerian Doctor Says
It is a well known fact that taking too much sugary things causes diabetes. People are being cautioned to reduce the intake of sugary things in order not to fall victim of diabetes.
However, a Nigerian doctor has taken to his twitter handle to oppose and enlighten more on diabetes. According to his tweet, taking in sugary things does not cause diabetes.
Read full tweet:
Been awhile I did a medical thread because mans finally grew tired of negative reactions, when they’re not even paying me . Anyways lemme dispel a couple of myths about Diabetes (Jedi Jedi).
Will taking too much sugar or sugary drinks CAUSE me to have diabetes? Answer=NO
Answer is No but there’s a catch though, I’ll come back to that. Diabetes is basically high sugar level in the blood. Now there’s this beautiful hormone called Insulin. It’s work basically is to digest the sugar and convert it to energy we use to do stuff….
In some people however, they may have 2 types of ‘badluck’ . 1) Their bodies may not be producing enough insulin(most times this is hereditary, other times some surgery, radiation or whatever). 2)Their bodies are producing enough insulin but the body refuses to respond to it..
This means the sugar will still stay in the blood. Now if your insulin is intact&functioning,it should mop up whatever sugar or sugary drinks you take. But here’s the catch, in a country like Nigeria where our 1st prayer point is not to visit the hospital, how do we differentiate?
That’s why you should go for check ups from time to time, blood sugar tests costs highest #1000, normal value is between 70-125(mg/dl), if you have a parent or sibling who has it, you should really watch it. Untreated Diabetes can lead to Erectile Dysfunction (No more mekwe)..
…Stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision and the likes. Some have called my attention that jedi jedi(too much sugar) could cause pile too. The answer to this, is a flat NO
Lastly, whoever brought the notion that something bitter must be used to cure something sweet was fake deep. “Agbo” will not reduce your blood sugar level. Cheers
I may do a separate thread on Pile (haemorrhoids) tomorrow. I’d entertain questions on said topic by then
Please in summary for people who may find this difficult to understand.
Will taking sugar and sugary drinks CAUSE me to have Diabetes? Answer is NO
Will taking sugar and sugary drinks WORSEN diabetes I already have?
Answer is BIG YES!!
Unhealthy habits like lack of exercise can increase your RISK of having diabetes LMAO, unless you don’t want people to eat at all. This is directly from diabetes dot org dot uk clearly calling it a myth. I came prepared , stop embarrassing yourselves.

Video: Arsenal 4 – 2 Vorskla [Europa League] Highlights 2018/19
Arsenal saw off Vorskla in the Europa League thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil and a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a goal in each half as Arsenal eased to a 4-2 win over Vorskla in the Europa League.
The Ukrainian visitors proved stubborn opponents initially, but the result was rarely in doubt from the moment Aubameyang broke the deadlock after 32 minutes.
Danny Welbeck was on target early in the second half before Aubameyang doubled his tally and Mesut Ozil came off the bench to get in on the act.
Captain Vladimir Chesnakov gave Vorskla something to shout about with an excellent finish 14 minutes from time and Vyacheslav Sharpar found the net in similar style with the last kick of the game.
Alex Iwobi was Arsenal’s liveliest attacking threat during a largely forgettable opening and the Nigeria international’s fine cross allowed Aubameyang to slide home at the back post after Henrikh Mkhitaryan drove at Vorskla on the counter-attack.
Lucas Torriera whipped a free-kick into the side netting before Aubameyang darted inside a pair of challenges to curl an effort against the base of the post.
By the time Vorskla goalkeeper Bogdan Shust pushed a Mkhitaryan attempt over, the away side were certainly in need of half-time.
Upon the restart, Vasyl Sachko’s men were unable to stem the tide and Welbeck was on hand to head in Mkhitaryan’s 48th-minute centre.
Aubameyang crashed a volley over, but was the beneficiary of Shust’s questionable positioning to dispatch Arsenal’s third from the edge of the box in the 56th minute – Mkhitaryan again supplying the ammunition.
Stephan Lichtsteiner lifted the ball over the out-rushing Shust for substitute Ozil to grab a fourth in the 74th minute, but the experienced full-back was caught in possession when Chesnakov smashed in an emphatic strike.
Arsenal had long settled for winding the clock down by the time Sharpar sent a side-footed effort flying past Bernd Leno.

I Am Tired, This Is Punishment — World’s Oldest Woman Cries Out
The ‘world’s oldest woman’ said she have never lived a happy day in her life. The woman identified as Koku Istambulova is apparently 128 years old so that is a long time to be miserable.
Her birth date of June 1, 1889, was apparently confirmed by the Russian government on her passport but it’s still hard to believe considering the oldest person ever documented was 122.
Despite possibly being a record breaker Ms Istambulova, who lives in a village in Chechnya, is not too happy with her life.
‘I have not had a single happy day in my life,’ Ms Istambulova said. ‘I have always worked hard, digging in the garden. I am tired. ‘Long life is not at all God’s gift for me – but a punishment. ‘Looking back at my unhappy life, I wish I had died when I was young. ‘And now I am not living, I am just dragging through.’
Ms Istambulova has lost all her children, with her last surviving daughter Tamara dying five years ago at the age of 104.
The pensioner says she has no secret to living long but admitted she loved fermented milk and didn’t eat meat or soups, which may have helped. She added: ‘
It was God’s will. ‘I did nothing to make it happen. ‘I see people going in for sports, eating something special, keeping themselves fit, but I have no idea how I lived until now.’
Woman Kills Her Elder Brother In Lagos: “I Did It Out Of Anger”

A 24-year old woman, Miss Akinbobola Olamide who reportedly attacked and murdered her elder brother, 26-year old Dara Akinbobola, by stabbing him to death in cold blood has confessed.
The incident happened at Olupebi Abijo Street, off Ijede Road in Ikorodu area of Lagos where they reside with their parents.
It was gathered that the late Dara had a disagreement his sister which led to hot exchange of words and later resulted into a fight between them. It was during the fight that Olamide who was deeply angered, took a kitchen knife, stabbed Dara on his neck and pierced it inside. Dara fell down and bled profusely.
He was rushed to the hospital but before then he had lost too much blood. He died on the way before the doctors could attend to him. Dara was only certified dead and his corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report.
The matter was reported to the police in the area; Olamide was arrested and transferred to the SCIID Panti, Yaba and charged for murder.
Olamide told the police that she did not wish to kill her elder brother; that she committed the crime out of anger. However, the police found her culpable and charged her before the Ebute Metta Magistrates court for murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector K. Omishakin, informed the court that the defendant was the younger sister of the victim who she used a knife to stab him to death. The court did not take her plea and denied her bail because of the seriousness of the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A .O. Komolafe, ordered her to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
According to PM Express, the case may be transferred to High Court if the DPP found her culpable and she may be jailed for life if she was tried and found guilty for murder.
Lesson:
Parents should discourage their children from fighting each other. And we should learn how to control our anger.
