‘I Became A Cultist To Help Me Secure A Job’ – Suspect Cries Out

 

The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Mr Anthony Ogbizi who paraded the suspect stated that he confessed to joining the cult while in the school in order to secure employment after graduation, blaming the devil for his involvement in cultism.

The suspect told newsmen that he dropped out of the Rivers State Polytechnic for lack of sponsorship but maintained his membership of the Aye Confraternity, which he joined on campus, so as to help him to secure a job or get contracts through other members of the cult.

He said, ‘’ it is the work of the devil. I just went to celebrate with my friends that just finished their final year exams in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, when the school security men saw me and found incriminating items on me.

“I am a member of the Aye Confraternity and a former student of the Rivers State Polytechnic. I joined the cult group so that our men can help me with job upon graduation. But I did not graduate because of money. My parents did not have enough money to sponsor me through school that was why I dropped out.

“I have learnt tiling. I went to MOUAU to see if I could meet any of our members that could just help me out because I came to Umuahia not long ago. I needed a job, business connection or any other thing that can sustain me.”

However, the Commissioner of Police said that the suspect will be arraigned in court having made some confessions.

Head Coach of D’Tigers Senior National Basketball ,Alex Nwora on Sunday told National Daily that his team were focused on beating all contenders at the ongoing 2019 FIBA Africa World Cup Qualifiers in Lagos .

Nwora revealed that ’ Tigers had defeated all eight teams so far in the competition starting with the first window in 2017 where it topped the group F that had power houses Senegal and Central Africa Republic.

Mali , Rwanda and Cote D’ Ivoire are also contenders for the two tickets available for a place in the World Cup to be hosted in China .He added.

“ We can continue to improve on our quality based on the availability of our players who are so desirous to represent their fatherland .

“ So , we are not satisfied until we pick the ticket and prepare ourselves for the competition ahead , ’’ Nwora said .

D’ tigers crushed CAR 114 – 69 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National stadium , Lagos to register one of the biggest scoreline so far in the second round of the qualification series holding in Lagos .

“ I am happy about the results so far but we can only work harder and give our best to the success of the team .

“ We are a rock solid team and blessed with abundance of talents , but we cannot celebrate now until we play our final game .
