Aisha Buhari Congratulates 2 Female Winners Of APC Senate Ticket

Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the wife of the President, has congratulated the two female aspirants who won APC ticket to contest for senate seats in Adamawa State.

The winners – Sen. Binta Masi-Garba and Aishatu Dahiru – picked the APC tickets to contest for the Adamawa North and Adamawa Central senatorial seats.

Mrs. Buhari’s message was contained in a statement signed by her media aide, Mr Suleiman Haruna, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Tuesday in Abuja.

She said that their success would encourage other women to join the political arena and contest for elective offices.

“We pray that the two women and all other APC female candidates will emerge winners at the secondary elections in 2019,’’ the statement added.

While calling on the candidates to remain steadfast to the APC manifesto, she appealed to them to pay special attention to women empowerment and initiate policies that would help vulnerable families, when elected.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Aishatu Binani, a new entrant into the Senatorial race, defeated former Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority, Mr Umar Umarana, and one other male aspirant, to pick the ticket.

 

Genevieve Signs Film Deal With Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp’s Agent In US

Nollywood Actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has signed a film deal with United Talent Agency.

The deal, it is also suspected, will see the ‘Lion heart’ actress collaborating with top Hollywood filmmakers to produce movies from African including Nigerian stories.

UTA, also represents Hollywood’s Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Channing Tatum, Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Kim Soo Hyun and Liv Tyler, according to Deadline report.

Meanwhile, Netflix announced its acquisition of the rights of Nnaji’s comedy ‘Lion Heart’ just before its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festivals in September, making Lionheart the first original feature from Nigeria to debut on the streaming service.

Nnaji, who is one of the highest paid actresses in Nollywood, has starred in a number of Nigerian features including Ijé: The Journey, Tango With Me, Doctor Bello, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Road to Yesterday, a film that marked her first outing as a producer.

Lady narrates how an epileptic Taxify driver almost got her killed

Narrated below is a story from a lady about how an epileptic Taxify driver had an attack while he was driving on top speed.

According to the lady who was a passenger in the vehicle, the experience was scary especially when she saw him convulsing.

So I almost lost my life…I’m still in shock. So I was in a taxi headed to ikeja. We got to Osborne road I noticed the cab driver’s mouth was wide open and he was pointing at me. In my mind I was like ok he stammers. I stutter as Well so no biggie. I was eating my salad and waiting for him to finish his sentence..next thing something foam like started coming out from his mouth. We were moving fast about 80km/h or so. I knew something was wrong. I started shouting Jesus.

I’m not about to die now. Oga is epileptic. He hit the car in front of us. Our front tire busted. Finally our car stopped. I had already thought I was dead. Alas the culvert wedged the car. The driver was dying..was flagging down cars to help the driver. No one stopped. Everyone drove past except a woman that parked behind us but was too scared to alight from her vehicle.

Thank God for the RRS stationed by deputy gov’s house. They helped resuscitate the driver. Imagine this happened on 3rd mainland bridge. The driver is fine. Reasons Oyakhilome’s Ex-wife Anita Shunned Daughter’s Wedding

The elaborate wedding between Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s first daughter Sharon Oyakhilome, and her Ghanaian boo, Phillip Frimpongm held last Saturday October 6, 2018 in Lagos. The Oyakhilome’s family and friends were present but sadly Pastor Chris’ Ex-wife Anita was conspicuously absent.

“She must have felt left out of everything since Sharon lived with her dad,” a source at the Christ Embassy told Kemiashefonlovehaven.

“The wedding was more of a Christ Embassy ‘event’ and everyone was present. Maybe she would have felt uncomfortable with the members and pastors around. Not only that, the Oyakhilome family were all present and she might have felt funny what with the drama she pulled before and after the divorce.”

And on whether Pastor Chris could have barred her from attending the ceremony, the source authoritatively said;

“Its not possible for the man of God to have done that. He is a peace-loving person and even if such happened, Anita, who is known to have been vocal since the divorce took place, must have taken to social media to express herself. I think she just didn’t feel up to handling what would have happened at the event.”

The divorce case between Pastor Chris and Anita was filed in 2014 in United Kingdom on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour”, adultery and several other allegations. 
Months after the divorce, the estranged couple reportedly shared their two kids. While Sharon, the eldest, preferred her dad, Charlene stayed with her mum.

“The attention of Afenifere has been drawn to the statement credited to former Lagos governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that the herdsmen’s terror being witnessed across the country is a fallout of water scarcity and that the country should “convert unused land to grazing reserves.”

 

Eye parasite can be avoided with good contact lens hygiene

According to UK researchers , , an uptick in cases of Acanthamoeba keratitis, an eye infection that most often affects contact lens wearers.

Contact lens users can avoid the severe infection by washing and drying their hands when they handle their contacts, storing the lenses in clean solution daily rather than in water or old solution, and as much as possible, avoiding wearing lenses while swimming or bathing.

“We think the condition is 90 percent preventable if water exposure is avoided and effective lens solution is used properly or disposable contact lenses are used,” said senior study author Dr. John Dart of University College London and Moorfields Eye Hospital.

 

“The way the solution is formulated can sometimes cause the problem, too, but users can’t find this easily,” said Dr. Dart
