“We Didn’t Help Nnamdi Kanu To Escape From Nigeria” – DSS Opens Up On False Allegation

The Department of State Services has refuted an allegation that five of its personnel allegedly aided Mr. Nnamdi Kanu to escape from Nigeria.

Kanu , leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra , escaped from his abode in Umuahia , Abia State on September 14, 2017 .

He, however, showed up in Jerusalem , Israel on Friday.

Before his sudden disappearance , Kanu was being tried by the Federal Government for treason , but was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja .

Spokesperson for the DSS , Mr. Peter Afunanya , in a statement in Abuja on Monday , described the rumour alleging that operatives of the agency helped Kanu to escape as “ malicious . ”

He said:-

“The Service wishes to state that the news is fake , mischievous and defamatory . It is nothing but a figment of the imagination of the originators .

“The public should , by now , have noted the antics of Kanu , IPOB and their collaborators whose stock in trade is to peddle unfounded rumours , gossips and propaganda aimed at subverting the government , its key agencies and officials .

“The DSS is aware that some unscrupulous elements are keen on exploiting the situation to constitute a nuisance to the freedoms of all persons as guaranteed in the Constitution and as well disrupt the forthcoming general elections.

“The DSS will not stand by idly and watch these undesirable elements achieve their aims.

“It is to be further emphasised that the indissolubility, unity and indivisibility of our beloved country is sacred . ”

Afunanya called on those he described as “ obstructive planners against the unity of Nigeria ” to know that no individual or group can be bigger than this country.

He, therefore, reassured residents about their safety and the DSS ’ s commitment to providing an enabling environment for peace and stability in the country.

According to China’s agriculture ministry on Tuesday, two new cases of African swine fever had been confirmed in the central province of Hunan.

There could be worries over pork supplies after the confirmation of the cases, in the cities of Yiyang and Changde, just a day after two other fresh cases were reported in the southwestern province of Yunnan.

The ministry announced that 546 hogs in a pig farm in Yiyang and 268 hogs in Changde were culled after infections were found.

‘I want to know the precise cause of your afflictions’ – Ifu Ennada calls out Dee-One

‘I want to know the precise cause of your afflictions’ – Ifu Ennada calls out Dee-One

The drama between reality tv stars, Ifu Ennada and Dee-One have gotten messier.

The beauty entrepereneur took to her social media platform to call out the comedian who has turned his Instagram page to a battlefield, insulting her in a bid to promote his upcoming comedy show

Ennand who would have none of this opted to rant on social media after other means of communicating with him failed.

She wrote;

‘as I write this I’m short of words. You took a clear subtle joke and turned it into a Disaster Trigger. I thought we were supposed to be friends off social media’.

I have called you on the phone to know the precise cause of your afflictions, but you’ve refused to take any of my calls or reply your messages. —

Is this because I haven’t sent the video you asked me to record for you? Are you really mad at me for this or is there something I’m missing here? —

Now you’ve resorted to more name callings on your page. The last thing I want to do is get in the mud with a pig, so I’m going to say this and not revisit this issue –

“Dee One, keep my name out of your mouth and sentences. You might have time for frivolities, but I have a business to run and a brand to build. You’re clearly a comedian whose a failure at recognising the simplest joke and I can’t help deliver you from this burden.”

It may be recalled that the drama between the two kicked off during the weekend.  The reality tv stars went after each other for a pound of flesh over what was supposed to be a joke

The drama started after Dee-One shared a video of his hotel room in Jos, as he prepared to headline a show later in the day.

Ifu Ennanda joined many of his fans to take to the comment section and joked about him being on a trip with a “Big God”

Dee-One who would have none of the joke slammed her heavily and the former refused to retreat.

Childhood obesity linked to severe hip disorder

A UK study has suggested that Kids who are obese may be more likely to develop a severe hip disorder than children who are not overweight.

The disorder, which is known as slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), is one of the most common hip problems in children and adolescents. It can lead the ball at the head of the thigh bone to slip backward and often requires surgery to repair. The condition has long been linked to obesity, which can put extra pressure on bones. However, research to date hasn’t offered decisive evidence that obesity directly causes SCFE.

Children with severe obesity were almost six times more likely to develop SCFE and youth who were less obese were almost four times more likely to develop SCFE, when compared to kids who were a normal weight .

“Some doctors, in particular orthopedic surgeons, have long believed that SCFE is linked to childhood obesity, though this has been very difficult to prove,” said lead study author Daniel Perry of the University of Liverpool in the UK.

“This is the first (of hopefully several studies) that will confirm that obesity is bad for children – in this case bad because it increases the risk of a rare but ‘nasty’ orthopedic condition which could be disabling. Children who are not overweight tend to be more active, fitter and healthier – and this can only be good for you.” said Eastwood

“Messi Is The Best Player In The World” – Football Legend, Maradona Declares

Diego Maradona has accused the media of trying to drive a wedge between himself and the Barcelona star, Goal.com reports.

The Argentine has reiterated his belief that countryman Lionel Messi is the best player in the world.

Maradona seemed to take aim at the Barcelona star last weekend, when he appeared to question the way that the 31-year-old is deified.

Maradona, in particular, took aim at Messi’s mentality, claiming that he is not a leader.

“Messi’s a great player, but he’s not a leader,” the 1986 World Cup winner was quoted as having said by La Ultima Palabra Mexico. “Let’s stop making a God out of Messi. Messi is just another player for Argentina.”

Furthermore he was cited as having accused the Barca ace of “going to the bathroom 20 times before a game”.

The Dorados head coach, however, has said that his comments were taken out of context and accused the media of driving a wedge between himself and the player he once led as Argentina coach.

“I know who Leo is, I know he’s the best player in the world,” he said on Sunday. “If I said a player goes to the toilet 20 times before a game, I never named Lionel Messi.

“They want to put me into confrontation with Messi but they cannot. The friendship I have with Lionel is bigger than anything they can write, and I’m saying that he’s the greatest in the world.”

7 Foods That Can Lower Your Blood Pressure

Sodium is not good for people with high blood pressure. The following foods can help to control blood pressure and also valuable for your heart and arteries.

7 Foods That Can Lower Blood Pressure

1. Dark chocolate
This is not strange. Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants called flavanols, which make blood vessels more elastic. An ounce or less a day, with at least 70 percent cocoa is most ideal.

2. Bananas
Bananas are good in lowering blood pressure as they are rich in blood pressure-lowering potassium, and one banana contains about 420 milligrams, or 11 percent of the 4,700 milligrams. Surprisingly, many vegetables are actually higher in potassium than these popular fruits.

A cup of Swiss chard boasts 960 milligrams, a cup of cooked white beans has nearly 1,200 milligrams, and a whole avocado has 975 milligrams.

3. Beet juice
Beet juice is really good for lowering blood pressure. According to a study published in April 2013 in the American Heart Association journal Hypertension, people with high blood pressure who drank about eight ounces of beetroot juice experienced a decrease in blood pressure of about 10 mm Hg.

Nitrate, which turns into nitric oxide, a gas that widens blood vessels and aids blood flow was responsible for the effect. It is recommended that a glass a day of beet juice could help keep blood pressure at a lower, healthier level.

4. Baked Potato
It is known that Potatoes are rich in magnesium and potassium, two nutrients that are an important part of the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, or high blood pressure), which suggests a variety of foods to lower blood pressure.

You should know that a diet rich in potassium helps the body become more efficient at flushing out excess sodium, which can raise blood pressure, and magnesium helps promote healthy blood flow.

5. Skim milk
Milk is healthy for the body. It is proven that a cold glass of milk can provide a healthy serving of both calcium and vitamin D, which work together to help lower blood pressure by 3 to 10 percent. While the change seems low, they could translate to a 15 percent reduction in heart disease risk.

Low calcium can cause high blood pressure and drinking milk can avert this.

6. Eggs. A number of studies have shown that egg yolks doesn’t raise heart disease risk. Now, recent research has found that egg whites can have an effect on blood pressure.

A study presented at a meeting of the American Chemical Society reported that when rats with high blood pressure were fed a protein found in egg whites, they experienced a drop in blood pressure that was comparable to a low dose of Captopril, a blood-pressure-lowering medication. Eggs are a solid source of protein, vitamin D, and other healthy nutrients which may be responsible for the effect.

7. Broccoli
Is one of the vegetables which are good source of the blood pressure-regulating minerals magnesium, calcium, and potassium. Previous research in animals has found that a diet high in broccoli sprouts may help reduce blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.

Broccoli sprouts are high in compounds that may help reduce damage to arteries, which may play a role in high blood pressure.
