Lai Mohammed Tells Nigerians FG Permits $1.3bn For 5 Critical Projects’

The Federal Government has set aside 1.3 billion dollars (about N468 billion) from the National Sovereign Investment Fund to finance five critical infrastructure projects.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this on Sunday when he appeared as guest on a Nigeria Television Authority programme, “Stepping Up”.

The minister said the five ongoing projects to benefit from the fund included the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway construction, the second Niger bridge and the East-West road construction.

The other two are the Abuja – Kano expressway construction and the Mambilla power project.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was committed to infrastructure development across Nigeria and would continue to revive and complete all abandoned projects inherited from previous administration.

“We believed that rather than starting new projects, it will benefit Nigerians to complete all inherited abandoned projects.

“To appreciate the commitment of the administration to infrastructure: In 2014 Nigeria spent N14 billion on transportation, N34 bilion on water resources and agriculture and N106 billion on power works and housing.

“In 2017, this administration spent N107 billion on transportation, N130 billion on agriculture and water resources and N325 billion on Power, Works and Housing.

“The administration, in a manner unprecedented in the history of the country, spent a total of N2.7 trillion on capital projects in 2016 and 2017 alone,” he said.

Perhaps if he was polite I would have accepted his apology and walked quietly to my room; but his attitude led to the fiasco. Just like it is often said that pride goes before a fall, there was no way I would tolerate such an attitude.”

After she had released the video online, it went viral and it got many people talking, although she was never contacted by the rapper now his crew and she attributes this to the arrogance of Olamide.

“No. In fact, I believe there is no need for that. His arrogance would not even let him do such.” She answered when asked if Olamide has contacted her after the video was viral.

Lagos state government sues Davido and AY over tax evasion

According to sources, the state government sued popular singer David Adeleke known by his stage name Davido and comedian Ayo Makun popularly known as AY to court over alleged tax evasion.

A government source disclosed that Davido and AY had claimed that they have been paying tax to their states of origin. Davido reportedly claimed that he was paying to Osun state while AY claimed he paid his tax to Ondo state.

“Remember that Davido said he made N500m from his N30bn concert recently. We must know how much he paid to the LIRS.
“AY too said the same thing. The comedian claimed to be paying his taxes to Ondo State, where he hails from. It seems these celebrities don’t understand that the tax law stipulates that you must pay your tax to your state of residence.
“Anyway, we are already in court. Others will soon appear in court if they don’t obey the state tax law. You can’t be making money in Lagos and refuse to pay tax”, the government source said.
