‘Where Is Buhari’s Certificate’ – Omokri Reacts As Police Summon Adeleke Over Malpractice

Osun State Governorship election is definitely gonna be hot. Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to police invitation to Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State over alleged examination malpractice and criminal conspiracy.

We had reported that Force Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, in a statement on Wednesday, said Adeleke and Sikiru, his brother, sat for the National Examination Council Examination (NECO) as internal candidates in 2017, “impersonating” students of OJO/Aro Community Grammar School in Osun state.

Moshood said the alleged crime was facilitated by the principal of the school and two other staff of the school. He added that the four others allegedly involved should report to the force headquarters in Abuja for “immediate” arraignment in court.

But reacting, Omokri questioned why Adeleke should be summoned by the police for exam malpractice when Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun was escorted to the airport after forging her NYSC certificate.

He tweeted, ”I am rather impressed at the effort the @PoliceNG put into investigating Senator Adeleke’s WAEC certificate. I just wish the Nigerian Police had also put in the same diligence in investigating President @MBuhari’s WASCE Certificate.

”@HMKemiAdeosun admits to forgery and is escorted to Abuja airport to board a flight to London. Senator Adeleke is accused of forgery and is asked to report to @PoliceNG for court arraignment days to Osun election. Meanwhile, Buhari can’t explain the whereabouts of his certificate.”

Video: Manchester City 1 – 2 Lyon [Champions League] Highlights 2018/19

Nabil Fekir and Maxwel Cornet did the damage as Lyon left Manchester City with a 2-1 win, as Pep Guardiola watched from the stands.

Manchester City’s Champions League campaign got off to a shocking start on Wednesday, as Maxwel Cornet and Nabil Fekir secured Lyon a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium over the competition favourites.

Pep Guardiola was forced to watch the Group F opener from his lofty perch in the stands due to a touchline ban, and while City were largely dominant, Lyon’s dynamism in attack caused problems and they ultimately managed to hang on.

City controlled possession, but two errors from Fernandinho allowed Lyon to punish them, with Fekir and Cornet giving Bruno Genesio’s men a shock – albeit deserved – 2-0 lead at half-time.

Leroy Sane’s entrance made a difference and he swiftly set up Bernardo Silva to pull one back, but Lyon dug deep and held off City’s late onslaught to secure a famous victory.

City had no problem establishing control and went close 16 minutes in, but Aymeric Laporte’s header from a tight angle came back off the post.

Lyon capitalised 10 minutes later – Cornet supplying a cool finish into the bottom-left corner after Fabian Delph missed Fekir’s cross.

City should have been given the chance to level from the spot in the 40th minute when Rafael da Silva tripped Gabriel Jesus, but the referee ignored protests and Lyon stunned their hosts again shortly after.

Fekir held off two defenders and then drilled an effort into the bottom-right corner from 20 yards.

City introduced Sane from the bench in the 55th minute to boost their impetus, but a few moments later they had a lucky escape – former Manchester United man Memphis Depay hitting the post from just outside the area.

Sane soon inspired City to get one back, pulling a pass back for Silva to guide home, but it was not enough and Lyon claimed the points.

2019 Election: What IBB Told Me About Buhari’S Second Term Bid – Kalu

Former Abia Governor, Orji Kalu on Tuesday narrated how he visited former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida to seek support for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said IBB told him that he was thinking whether to support Buhari in 2019.

The politician told newsmen that President Buhari deserved a second term because he represents hope for the country.

He said: “I am in Minna to campaign for President Buhari because I have seen a lot of PDP people trooping in to visit IBB and I felt we should not be left behind.

“I have come to have a heart-to-heart talk with the former President and convince him why he should allow and support President Buhari to finish his second tenure.

“His reaction was blue and white, we have discussed and he said he was thinking about it. February 16 is still a long way to go and we will continue talking; however, it is a positive reaction.

“President Buhari is already in half time now, he has played four years and in soccer, you have 90 minutes game, he has played 45 minutes and we are appealing to Nigerians to give him another 45 minutes to play. It would make more sense and would be very nice.”

Pastor Gave His Church Members Jik Bleach To Drink After Declaring It To Be Blood Of Jesus

One of the last days pastors and a controversial South African pastor, who gave his church members JIK bleach to drink during his service last week, has spoken out to defend his action.

Pastor Ruffus Phala, of Ark Centre Ministry in Makgodu Village, Limpopo, South Africa told Daily Sun he could turn the Jik into the blood of Jesus – he said what his members were drinking wasn’t Jik but Jesus Christ’s blood.

He said:

Yes, it was Jik before I made the declaration. But after I declared it to be the blood of Jesus Christ it means it’s no longer Jik so it won’t harm anyone who consumes it.

He said what he did was similar to what happened in the Bible, where Jesus gave his servants’ wine to drink but had said to them “this is my blood“.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said they had not received any complaints. He urged the affected congregants to come forward and open a case so cops could investigate.

Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva, chairwoman of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural‚ Religious and Linguistic Communities, told Daily Sunthey condemned such acts in the strongest possible terms. She said this was an act of people seeking popularity, adding:

A true man of God will not do such.

We’ll be meeting with the religious umbrellas on Thursday to have a conversation about such acts. We want them to stand up and say, ‘Not in our God’s name’.

The controversial prophet is the same one who made headlines after he gave his congregation Dettol to drinkin 2016.

Babachir Lawal: My sack was a blessing in Disguise…. I made almost N500m from my Farm Last Year

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal has spoken out for the first time since his sack.

Lawal was sacked by President Buhari over allegations bordering on misappropriation of funds. However, Lawal seems to have moved on and even benefitted from his sack. According to Vanguard, Lawal who was speaking to journalists on Monday in Abuja, said:

“Let me shock you, before I came into government, I have been in business, I was a very successful businessman. I am a world renowned IT consultant and I have a very large farm, spanning over 1,000 hectares, which I abandoned to join governance.

I was earning N930, 000 monthly as the SGF, now that I have returned to my farm and reactivated it after my sack, I now have 4,000 hectares under cultivation. Last year, I earned close to half a billion Naira from my farm proceeds. I have a cattle ranch that I am developing gradually and I am back to IT consultancy, life is now good.

Everything that happened to a man is for his own good; my sack I would say, is rather a blessing in disguise. Let me tell you, nothing happened to me. Right from the beginning of the saga, I knew that the whole thing was fabricated and that was why I did not give any damn from the beginning.

The reason some people don’t like me is because I am so confident of myself. Did you hear me defend myself that time, I didn’t do it and I will not do it because I know that they are fabricated.”

On rumours that he nominated Boss Mustapha, the incumbent SGF, Lawal said: “he is however my brother and I cannot deny him”

Digital Farming Can Tackle Nigeria’s Food Shortage

World food agencies such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and World Food Programme have, on several occasions, raised an alarm over the looming and impending danger of food shortage in Nigeria. Both agencies, as of March 2018, said that it is possible for food shortage to affect 5.8 million Nigerians.

Despite the large expanse of land that cuts across the country from the North, South, East and West, it’s very shocking and rather sad that there’s not enough food to go round.

But then, this was not the case in the past.

Agriculture was the mainstay of the Nigerian economy: groundnut pyramids from the north; cocoa from the west; and kola nut from the east.

In 1956, Nigeria struck something sweeter and juicier than agriculture. On that fateful day, in the village of Oloibiri, the country discovered oil and agriculture took a back seat.

The country literarily abdicated and abandoned every other sector for oil thus making the Nigerian economy a mono-product economy. From one oil boom to another, Nigeria was revelling in the pool of petrol dollars while agriculture that has the possibility of gainfully employing and feeding Nigerians took the backseat. Agriculture cried and cried for attention but was neglected. This is why some people have described oil as a ‘curse’ rather than a blessing to the country.

Now, agriculture is very frail and everyone including the government is running helter-skelter to revive it. And oil has lost its fanfare.

Interestingly, technology has a solution for almost every problem. In the case of agriculture, digital farming is the tech innovation being used to solve the Nigerian food crises. Digital farming or agriculture is the use of new and advanced technologies, integrated into one system, to enable farmers and other stakeholders within the agriculture value chain to improve food production.

How digital farming works
Technology as earlier said has a solution for almost everything. It simply depends on how you deploy it. For those who ‘hate’ farming, digital farming is perfect for you. And the story of digital farming is incomplete without referencing Farmcrowdy. Farmcrowdy can be described as the first digital farm in Nigeria.

With digital farming, you do not need to own a farm. You simply invest your money in any of the available farms advertised on the digital farm platform and at the end of the harvesting cycle, you get your return on investment plus interest. The reason why this works is that digital farm platform provides support for farmers to guarantee improved crop yield and preservation of harvest. This will, in turn, reduce food waste and increase food production.

The eCommerce is a foolproof business model that has been tried and tested by Jumia, Nigeria’s no 1 shopping destination and it has really been successful so far. As such, it is nonplus that the eCommerce business model is being replicated in other sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Can digital farming tackle food shortage in Nigeria?
Food shortage is a threat to Nigeria’s existence. This is not supposed to be the case in Nigeria because of the availability of large expanse of fertile lands. Thankfully, digital farming arrived and every Nigerian now has the opportunity to play a role in Agriculture even though they do not need to work on the farm. This is the real catch. Therefore, it is very possible for digital farming to tackle food shortage.

Digital farmers cannot do it alone. All stakeholders must come together to find a solution to the food shortage crises in Nigeria. For now, the digital farmers can only do as much.
