EPL: Hazard scores 100th goal for Chelsea in slim victory against Watford

EPL: Hazard scores 100th goal for Chelsea in slim victory against Watford

Eden Hazard scored twice as Chelsea gained a hard-fought win at Watford to reclaim fourth place in the Premier League table.

The Belgian opened the scoring when he collected Mateo Kovacic’s pass, took the ball around goalkeeper Ben Foster and calmly finished for his 100th Blues goal.

Chelsea’s lead only lasted two minutes until Roberto Pereyra volleyed past Kepa Arrizabalaga from the edge of the 18-yard box.

But Hazard grabbed his second of the match in the second half when he converted a penalty after Foster had bundled him over.

Chelsea had dropped to fifth when Arsenal drew at Brighton earlier on Wednesday, but this result takes Maurizio Sarri’s side back to fourth, 11 points behind leaders Liverpool.

It was a return to winning ways for the Blues after they suffered a surprise 1-0 loss at home to Leicester City on Saturday.

Hazard, who joined Chelsea for £32m from Lille in June 2012, became only the 10th man to reach 100 goals in all competitions for the club when he put the visitors ahead in the first minute of injury time at the end of the first half.
It came after Watford’s Etienne Capoue sloppily gave the ball away near the halfway line.

That enabled Kovacic to break forward before releasing Hazard, and the Belgium international did well to go around Foster and score his 10th Premier League goal of the season.

After Watford had equalised, Hazard’s 101st club goal came in the 58th minute as he sent Foster the wrong way from the spot after the former England goalkeeper bundled him over in the penalty area.

Hazard’s quality proved to be the difference as Sarri again opted to use the two-time Premier League title winner as a ‘false nine’, with Alvaro Morata injured and Olivier Giroud, who has only scored one Premier League goal in 15 appearances in 2018-19, among the substitutes.

Chelsea had further opportunities as N’Golo Kante raced onto Hazard’s through ball but could only drag his effort wide. Willian also was unlucky not to add a third for the visitors, when his 20-yard strike rebounded off the outside of the post.

The only negatives for Chelsea were a hamstring injury for Pedro with the man who replaced him, 18-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi, also going off late on. (BBC)

Late-night tweeting may affect pro basketball players’ performance

A new study suggest that professional athletes in the National Basketball Association may score fewer points and snag fewer rebounds the day after late-night activity on Twitter.

Sleep researchers had to studied game performance to understand how late-night social media use and sleep deprivation might affect occupational and physical performance the following day.

“Most of us have these devices in our bedrooms and beds, and they interfere with our bedtime routines, keep us up at night and reduce our sleep quality,” said Lauren Hale of Stony Brook University in New York.

“Maybe the player already knew they weren’t going to play much, and that’s why they stayed up late the night before the game,” Hale said.

“We all need to sleep well and function during the day,” Hale said. “This (study in pro athletes) was a way to look at sleep and functioning in a way that speaks to a broader audience.”

“It’s also crucial to examine the association between the late-night use of different social media and accidents the following day among everyday citizens,” said sleep researcher Mohamed Arbi Mejri of the National Center of Medicine and Science in Sports in Tunis, Tunisia.

6-year-old twins get married to avoid bad luck (photos)

6-year-old twins get married to avoid bad luck (photos)

A pair of six-year-old twins get married in a lavish ceremony because their parents believe they were lovers in a past life.

The young boy, nicknamed Guitar, and his sister, Kiwi, were born in September 2012 and their parents immediately knew they would have to get married.

Buddhists believe that male and female twins have ‘karma’ from relationships in a previous life and have been re-born together, because the debt has not been settled. They say that unless they’re married as quickly as possible once they’re old enough, they will experience bad luck in the future.

The twin’s father Amornsan Sunthorn Malirat, 31, and mother, Phacharaporn, 30, arranged a lavish ceremony for their children in Samut Prakan on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand.

Amornsan said: ‘the reason for the marriage ceremony is because we believe that both the children used to be a partners in the past life. This is a belief we have inherited from ancient people. We must arrange a wedding for the two twins as a solution to the issues they had before they were re-born. If they are married, they will live healthy and successful lives and not be sick.’

A traditional ceremony featured a street procession followed by a game where the groom had to pass through nine ‘gates’ before he could meet the bride.

The young boy then had to pay a dowry of 200,000 baht in cash and gold worth the equivalent of £1,000 before marrying her.

The ‘couple’ then posed together with their arms around each other for wedding pictures. Despite them being ‘married’ according to local customs, the ceremony is not legally binding and each of them will still be able to seek out their own partners when they are older.

The children’s mother, Phacharaporn, said: ‘they were both so sweet during their wedding. They will be the best of friends for the rest of their lives. They’ll be able to find their own husband or wife when their older. But this ceremony will always be important for them

Five Tips That Can Make You Look More Beautiful In Pictures

  1. Selfies! Profile pictures! Passport photographs! Here’s how to make sure you put your best face forward in each and every single picture you take.

Refresh your hair like
To give your hair a quick touch of volume, flip it upside down and shake through your strands with your fingers. When you flip it back, you’ll be left with an imperfect and tousled look that will appear textured in photos. To get even more dimension, pull your hair into a loose topknot in the moments leading up to your photo. Take it out and give it a quick spritz of dry shampoo.

Show your left side
In a study conducted at Wake Forest University, researchers found that the left side of the human face is generally more appealing to others than the right side. For the study, participants were asked to rate pictures of 10 male and 10 female faces, in both their original and mirror image form.

Pictures showing the left side were rated more “pleasant” than those of the right sides. Researchers said their results suggest that peoples’ left cheeks tend to exhibit a greater intensity of emotion, which others find more aesthetically pleasing.

Beware of restaurant and bar lighting
While restaurants and bars are great places to grab a drink with the girls, they’re not the ideal setting for a group shot. Overhead lighting (like the kind in most rooms) adds to the appearance of uneven skin and under-eye circles.

For better results, point your face toward the light source in your photo. Better yet, head outside around sunset for some natural lighting.

The lighting at dusk is really flattering. The sun casts less shadow downward, so you don’t end up with bags under your eyes in the photo. Instead, it lights up the area under the eyes and you look younger.

Take a cue for poses from celebs
For a classic, no-fail pose, turn your body three quarters of the way toward the camera, with one foot in front of the other and one shoulder closer to the photographer.

When you face the camera head on, your body tends to look wider. This pose ensures the camera catches you at your best angle. Correct your posture by sucking your belly in, buttocks tight, shoulders back and spine straight.

Put your best face forward
When it comes to makeup, it’s best to tread lightly—especially with foundation. A face masked in any kind of monotone base will look flat and pasty in photos. For a more natural look, experts suggest using concealer only on red spots, imperfections, and shadowy areas.

To find your facial shadows, you can tilt your chin down an inch or two while looking in a mirror. Notice where the shadows appear (likely around your eye sockets, under your lip line, and on your chin).

Add a warm blush to your cheeks and a berry shade to your lips. A nude lip could get washed out my the camera’s flash.
